A Malaysian Tourist Visa, also known as a Visitor’s Visa, is a document or stamp granted to foreign nationals allowing them to visit Malaysia for tourist purposes. The visa has a validity of 3 months, making it a short-term visa. It is one of the visa types for Malaysia available through a simple online application. To acquire an accepted eVISA, eligible citizens must apply online. This eliminates the requirement to apply at an embassy or consulate. Sri Lankans must obtain a tourist single entry visa in advance to enter the country.
Single Entry Visa – Valid for up to 3 months and can stay up to 30 days maximum after the entry.
Multiple Entry Visa – Validity can be from 1 month to 1 year. A single entry can stay up to 30 days.
Before submitting an online visa application, one must first fulfill the eligibility criteria for a single-entry Malaysia Tourist visa. Applicants are required to provide the following:
Passport validity must be more than seven (7) months from the date of arrival
Tentative Air ticket / Flight Confirmation + Cruise line ticket
Personal Visa request letter (For Business owners – Letter mentioning the name of the company or in a business letterhead)
Last 03 months Bank statements with a minimum balance equivalent to LKR 350,000/- (Savings A/C /Credit Card Statement/ Fixed Deposit certificate with a bank balance confirmation Letter/ Current A/C with a Debit Balance)
01 passport size colored photograph (White Background)
Hotel booking / Sponsor letter from Malaysia (the sponsor must also provide copy of Malaysian Identity Card and latest utility bill – electricity/water/line telephone)
Employed – Leave confirmation with the designation mentioned in the letter, undercompany letterhead.
For Business owner – Original business registration with the English translation
If Family is traveling – Original marriage and birth certificates with the English translations
Family traveling – Sponsored by one person, sponsor letter to be draft with the passengers name and passport numbers
